New May Meteor Shower

Earth's orbit crossed multiple debris paths from Comet 209P/LINEAR the night of May 23rd, which was predicted to result in a new meteor shower called the May Camelopardalids.

This was the closest Earth will pass to the comet (which was first identified in 2004) and its debris cloud, and the first time at this time of year.  As the quantity of material in the comet's debris paths was unknown, it was difficult to predict the number of meteors visible per hour.
