New ASU Satellite Will Monitor Threats from Space

ASU's School of Earth & Space Exploration has been chosen by the US Airforce to construct a new satellite to search for threats to Earth from space.  The shoebox-sized SWIMSat (Space Weather and Impact Monitoring Satellite) is to be built at ASU by students, and will monitor solar plasma eruptions as well as meteor strikes.  Its two-year mission is scheduled for launch in 2019.
